Our
three fun dance competitions - Jack'n'Jill, solo
Charleston/freestyle jazz and team battle - give
you the chance to show what you can do in a fun, friendly environment.
Competition entry is open to everyone and is free to all those attending
Holiday in Harlem.
NB Although there are no rules about who can
enter, we want the competitions to represent the social swing dance scene
- so dance teachers, rather than compete yourselves, perhaps suggest to
some of your students that they have a go?
• "Jack'n'Jill"
Show off your lead/follow and social dance skills!
· There will be a short heat at 9pm during which a panel of judges
will decide the finalists.
· Finalists will be called up after the Cabaret and partners will
be chosen at random to dance "all-skate" (everyone at the same
time) to the band. The winning couple will then be chosen by audience
reaction.
Sign up as a "Jack" (lead) or "Jill" (follow)
either in advance (by e-mail)
or on arrival at the event.
NB Entry to the Jack'n'Jill is first-come-first-served. Total
numbers are limited and we will take equal numbers of leads and follows
(so if there are more follows you will be more likely to be able to compete
if you put your name down early!!)
Trophies for the winning Jack and the winning Jill!
• Solo Charleston/freestyle jazz dance
Show off your solo Charleston/freestyle jazz dance to a song from the
band!
· No rules - anything goes!
· Judging by audience reaction.
Sign up either in advance (by e-mail)
or on arrival at the event.
Trophy for the winning dancer!
• Team battle
Get a team of friends together and show what you can do as a group!
· Three couples or more per team.
· No rules - anything goes!
· Judging by audience reaction.
Sign up in advance only (by e-mail)
before Sunday 15th March.
(We will only run the team battle if there
are enough entries - if not, we will run it at a later date at C
Jam)
No trophies for this one - just the kudos!!
