Make your "first dance" that bit more special!
Spurred on by Youtube and TV shows like Strictly Come Dancing, lots of couples are choosing to make their wedding "first dance" a bit more special with some prior tuition or even choreography. We can help with anything from a few simple steps to a full-blown routine!
How many classes will we need?
That depends on what you are looking to achieve. During the first session we will be able to better advise you, but a rough guide would be one or two classes to "get by" through to ten or more if you want a choreographed routine. If you are looking to do a full-on Lindy hop routine, you will almost certainly also need to take a number of drop-in classes and/or workshops, to at least intermediate level and will need to set aside significant time to learn.
What music can/should we use?
We teach swing dancing - so your music does have to be swing. For a wedding dance this can be quite flexible, ranging from 1930s and 40s Big Band swing through to swinging modern tracks. Many people choose to use "lounge swing" (eg Rat Pack) with its romantic themes - as did Swingland founder and director Martin Ellis and his wife Ruth (Martin and Ruth teach together at our weekly classes in Windsor).
Availability
Our best availability is early evenings directly before one of our regular group classes - although we always have to confirm with the venue. This can be cheaper too as we already have the space.
At certain times of the year we are very busy - availability during the Summer months is often much more likely.
Rates
The rate varies depending on the teacher, what is required, the number of people, location and time of day - but a rough guide to price would be £50 per hour for a couple plus studio hire if required.
