STUDIO CLASSES (Sunday afternoons)

Lindy hop workshops for style and technique

Studio classes give you the edge - they're the best place to really learn your technique and that's what makes a good dancer! We highly recommend taking studio classes alongside those at our regular club nights.

Workshop detailsStudio class at Dance Attic

3pm-4pm Sunday afternoons

We concentrate on style and technique in these one hour workshops. Technique is crucial to your dancing - enabling you to dance comfortably with different people at all tempos. Good technique makes you a more popular dancer and hugely increases your enjoyment of the dance! Week on week we'll show you some simple ways to make your dancing look more stylish too!

Topics covered regularly include
• lead/follow connection
how to have a “conversation” using the music rather than just lead/follow steps
• patterns that fit
what combinations of steps are good to put together and how do you get into/out of them
• dancing to faster music
techniques to use when the tempo gets hot!
• improvisation
how to interpret the music and add your own rhythms in the right places
• breaks
how to hear them coming and what to do when you do

Individual feedback
We are able to give you plenty of valuable individual feedback during our studio classes - much more so than in the larger classes at our club nights.

Requirements
You must be reasonably fit and injury-free - and you must have some previous experience of Lindy hop. You need to be familiar with swing out, Lindy turn and basic partnered Charleston steps.

No need to book. No partner needed.
