C JAM (Tuesdays 7.30pm-late)

The evening at C Jam kicks off with swing dance (Lindy hop) classes.

Classes at C Jam

Join any time • No need to book (just turn up) • No partner needed

7.45pm-8.30pm (dance hall) - Beginners class
No experience required. Absolute beginners always welcome!

8.30pm-9.15pm (dance hall) - Intermediates class
You need to be familiar with swing out, Lindy turn and basic partnered Charleston steps to take this class.

8.30pm-9.15pm (map room) - Beginners follow-up class
During the intermediates class there is usually a 45-minute revision session for beginners in a seperate room - depending on teacher and venue availability.

We rotate partners regularly in both classes so you get a chance to dance with everyone. This is the best way to learn and it’s a great way to meet people too!

Freestyle/practice

9.15pm-late (dance hall) - Freestyle dancing/practice - after the classes there is plenty of time to practice what you've learnt, watch and join in the dancing, and get to know people

Your teachers

The classes are taught by Martin Ellis and Jane Eliot, co-founders of Swingland and of C Jam @ The Bedford. The second Beginners class (when available) is taught by Laura Manning and Sean Hall, both members of the Attic Cats dance company which is choreographed by Martin. Laura learnt to dance with Swingland, so you can be sure that the teaching is of the highest quality and is completely consistent across the classes.
