One-day workshop - authentic jazz dance

The Bedford, 77 Bedford Hill, Balham, London SW12 9HD : www.thebedford.co.uk

The Tranky Doo is a playful and stylish solo jazz routine from the '40s. If you're confident with some of the basic solo moves, picking up routines and/or with the Shim Sham, and want to try something a little more challenging, learning this workshop is a great next step. It's also a perfect opportunity for those of you who have learnt one half of the routine and want finally to nail it!

You will expand your repertoire of jazz moves, strengthen your solo dancing technique and improve your styling. All of which will give you an extra dimension to your partner dancing as well. Improver dancers and Intermediate dancers will all get something out of this workshop.

In the first half of the workshop, we will learn the routine; in the second half, once we have finished the choreography, we will work on variations, styling and performance. It's a really fun routine to learn and to break out at social dances.

With Oli Deans (Swingland Brixton, C Jam jazz classes)

11.00am - 4.00pm Tranky Doo

Learn the classic Tranky Doo jazz routine.

We break for lunch at 1pm. Lunch is not included but most people eat downstairs at The Bedford. Please don't bring your own food/drinks into the venue.
