About our workshops
Our workshops at Linden House complement our regular weekly drop-in classes, and are a great way to kick-start or improve your dancing! The workshops are limited to 20-30 people maximum and everyone is welcome. No partner needed.
The workshops are taught by Swingland founder Martin Ellis and regular Swingland teachers.
Beginners workshops - beginners swing dance (Lindy hop)
Covering fundamental Lindy hop steps and rhythms, these workshops are an excellent introduction to the dance, as well as a great way to consolidate your basics. Suitable for absolute beginners.
Improvers/intermediates workshops - Lindy hop
If you're looking to move up to our regular intermediates classes, or just to step your dancing up a level, these workshops cover the trickier fundamental Lindy hop steps and rhythms you need to progress. Some experience is required.

How to get to our workshops at Linden House
Linden House Riverside
Linden House is a lovely period building set on the riverside between Chiswick and Hammersmith.
Linden House is at 60 Upper Mall, London W6 9TA.
Linden House is a charming four-storey riverside building with elegant south facing façade. Linden House is owned by London Corinthian Trust, a registered charity, and hosts a sailing and rowing clubs as well as regular events, weddings and more. The bar/café upstairs is open throughout the day for teas, coffees, food and more. Our workshops are in the lovely Ballroom on the ground floor.
By tube - District Line to Stamford Brook or Ravenscourt Park, both 10-15 minutes walk, or Piccadilly, District or Hammersmith & City Lines to Hammersmith, 15-20 minutes walk.
Hammersmith tube - from the station make your way down to the riverside near Hammersmith Bridge - from there it's a 5-10 minutes walk along the river towards Chiswick.
Stamford Brook tube - from the station head down to Upper Mall/the riverside via St. Peter's Square & Black Lion Lane.
Ravenscourt Park tube - from the station head down to Upper Mall/the riverside via Rivercourt Road.
By bus - there are plenty of bus routes serving Chiswick and Hammersmith (especially Chiswick High Road/King Street) - from the Chiswick side, St. Peter's Square is closest; from the Hammersmith side, Hammersmith Bridge is closest.
By car - turn left off the A4 westbound into Oil Mill Lane (just after the BP garage) and you'll find Linden House at the end, to your left - there is a small car park, first-come, first-served, but there is also free parking in the local roads around the venue on Thursday evenings after 6.30pm; please plan before setting off.

Kick off your swing dancing (Lindy hop) with this fun and informative workshop! Or consolidate your basics if you've already taken a few beginners classes. No partner or previous experience needed. Expect to have lots of fun - and a few challenges! Teachers - Martin and Liza.

Kick off your swing dancing, or consolidate your basics!£27 (£22 concessions*) per person - please book here. We will also accept Swingland class vouchers (2 vouchers per person) - please e-mail us to book if you want to use class vouchers.
Advance booking is required.
*Concession prices are valid for current NUS (National Union of Students UK), Equity/Musicians' Union members, Linden House members, and for under-25s (16+) - please show your membership card or ID (or Linden House code) on arrival.
Example videos of previous workshops. Workshop content varies and is always designed for the level of those attending at any particular point in time.
Workshops start and finish promptly at the advertised times. If you're running a bit late, please do join in and do your best to catch up - but we can't run past the finish time. No children or pets. 16/17 year-olds must be accompanied.
