About Swingland Windsor
A fun evening of great music and dancing with a bunch of really friendly people!
Our Wednesday night classes usually attract between 20 and 30 people - mostly local - from all walks of life, and all age ranges (16+).
Swing dancing is an increasingly popular pastime and is probably the most fun you can possibly have keeping in shape! It is very sociable - come with friends, a partner or on your own - everyone is welcome and you'll soon feel at home!

What we teach
We teach the original swing dance - the Lindy hop as danced in the great ballrooms of the Harlem Renaissance, such as The Savoy
You will learn all the fundamental steps - with plenty of emphasis on technique to get things right from the very beginning.

7.45pm - beginners class (Lindy hop fundamentals)
Learn all the basics with simple fun routines aimed at getting you dancing quickly - with plenty of emphasis on good lead/follow technique and connection. Absolute beginners always welcome. No partner needed!
New for 2019! 8.45pm - dancing/practice
Practise what you've learnt! Social dancing to recorded music.
Please do come along early and join in with the 8.45pm practice session.
9pm - improvers/intermediates class (Lindy hop)
Move your dancing to the next level! Knowledge of 6-count and 8-count fundamentals required. No partner needed!
We rotate partners regularly in the classes so you don't need to bring a partner and you get a chance to dance with everyone. This is the best way to learn and it's a great way to meet people too! We strongly suggest that you join in the rotation, you will learn much quicker!
The classes at Swingland Windsor are taught by Martin and Ruth Ellis - with Josie helping when Ruth is unavailable.

The beginners class kicks off at 7.45pm - please be prompt.
There is no need to book - just turn up.

There is an extended period where you will probably want to do both classes as you move from beginners through to improvers/intermediates - so we offer a substantial discount for taking both classes.

Our pre-paid class cards (now valid at all regular Swingland nights) are convenient and can save you money.

How to get to Swingland Windsor
The Old Court Artspace [formerly known as "The Firestation"] is a lovely venue in the heart of Windsor. A combined pub and Arts Centre with very friendly and laid-back atmosphere and fully licensed bar, it is located on the corner of St Leonards Road & St Marks Road. We are on the ground floor in the stunning "Auditorium" with its period features, wooden dance floor and great sound and lighting.

By train - The Old Court is a ten minute walk from Windsor Central Station (shuttle to Slough with mainline to Paddington, Maidenhead and Oxford) or fifteen minutes from Windsor & Eton Riverside Station (mainline to Waterloo).
By bus - The Old Court is well served by buses to and from Windsor, Slough, Bracknell and the surrounding area. Routes 71, 191, 200, 701 & 702 either go right by us or very near by. Click here for Firstgroup bus route details and a neat interactive route map.
By car - Windsor and hence The Old Court are within easy reach of the M4 (Jct 6) and M40 (Jct 2). There is free parking in local streets outside the venue (please check signs as some bays are charged until 8pm, although the charge is very reasonable).
